Auburn Tigers defeat Vanderbilt 21-15

The Auburn Tigers defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores 21-15 at Jordan-Hare Stadium, marking head coach Alex Golesh’s first Southeastern Conference win. Byrum Brown contributed both through the air and on the ground, completing 18 of 27 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown to Chas Nimrod.

A pivotal moment occurred in the second quarter when Omar Mabson II blocked a punt, which Cade Carlson returned 10 yards to give Auburn a 14-3 lead. Despite the win, Auburn faces questions regarding its rushing attack, as the team struggled to establish a consistent ground game with Jeremiah Cobb and others.

Vanderbilt’s true freshman quarterback Jared Curtis led the Commodores with 199 passing yards and 46 rushing yards in his first career road start. Vanderbilt will next face Georgia, while Auburn travels to face Tennessee.
