Auburn football enters Golesh era with key returning players
Auburn head coach Alex Golesh expressed optimism regarding his first season with the Tigers, noting that the program is ‘light years ahead’ of typical first-year coaching transitions. This advantage is attributed to several players, including quarterback Byrum Brown, who followed Golesh from South Florida to Auburn.
In preparation for the season opener against Baylor on Sept. 5, the team recently concluded fall practice with a scrimmage. The program is seeking an offensive turnaround following several losing seasons and a coaching change.
Two Auburn players have been recognized on ESPN’s list of the top 100 players in the nation. Junior linebacker Xavier Atkins was ranked No. 28 following a standout season characterized by high pressure rates and sacks. Quarterback Byrum Brown was also named to the list at No. 88, noted for his ability to execute Golesh’s up-tempo offensive system.
