Auburn football starts preseason camp while Alabama soccer settles for a 1-1 draw with LSU

The Auburn Tigers football program began a 13‑day preseason camp at the Auburn Marriott Opelika Resort & Spa, aiming to eliminate all distractions. Head coach Alex Golesh said, “Eliminate every single bit of distraction we possibly can,” and described the isolated setting as essential for building focus before the season opener on Sept. 5.

In a separate exhibition, Alabama’s women’s soccer team played LSU to a 1‑1 draw after a brief lightning delay. LSU took an early lead, but senior Melina Rebimbass equalized in the 65th minute. Head coach Wes Hart praised the match as a strong preparation, noting, “I thought this was a great way to kick off our season.” The result sets the stage for Alabama’s upcoming games against Memphis and TCU.
