Auburn Tigers defeat Southern Miss 43-8 amid coaching criticism
The Auburn Tigers defeated Southern Miss 43-8 at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night. Despite the dominant score and over 600 yards of total offense, Auburn coach Alex Golesh expressed significant dissatisfaction with the team's execution.
Auburn struggled with discipline, committing 10 penalties for 73 yards, including seven offensive infractions such as holding and false starts. The team also recorded two fumbles, one of which was lost in the red zone. Golesh described the performance as “sloppy” and warned that the team would face a difficult season if they do not meet higher standards of play.
On the offensive side, quarterback Byrum Brown completed 17 of 28 passes for two touchdowns and no interceptions, showing improvement compared to the previous week.
