Tennessee football upsets No. 6 Alabama 26-10
No. 14 Tennessee defeated No. 6 Alabama 26-10 at Neyland Stadium during the ‘Third Saturday in October’ rivalry. The victory marks Tennessee’s third consecutive home win against the Crimson Tide.
Running back DeSean Bishop led the Volunteers with 159 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback George MacIntyre contributed 197 passing yards in his second career start. Tennessee’s defense stifled Alabama, holding the Crimson Tide to just 201 total yards and forcing four turnovers. Alabama’s only touchdown came from a 19-yard Keelon Russell scramble in the second quarter.
The loss marks the first time Alabama has dropped consecutive regular-season games since 2007. Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer noted the situation would be ‘really uncomfortable’ for the program as they fight for a College Football Playoff spot. Following the game, Tennessee fans stormed the field, continuing a trend where opposing fans have stormed the field after every Alabama road loss since 2010.
