Auburn, Washington Man Rescued from Green River After Overnight Search

An adult male who became separated from a tubing group on the Green River near Whitney Bridge in Auburn, Washington, was rescued early on August 6 after a coordinated overnight search. 911 dispatch received the report at 10:47 p.m. on August 5, and responders used cellphone location data, rescue kayaks, and a drone with infrared imaging to locate the man stranded on a rock. At about 1:20 a.m., the combined effort of Mountain View Fire & Rescue, the King County Sheriff’s Office, King County Medic One, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, South King Fire, Valley Regional Fire Authority, Renton Regional Fire Authority, Enumclaw Fire Department and Skyway Fire secured the rescue and he was medically evaluated on site.

The incident underscores the importance of regional cooperation among multiple public‑safety agencies in complex emergencies, with officials noting that no single agency possesses all the specialized resources needed for such nighttime water rescues. Responders also reminded the public to wear properly fitted life jackets and to remain in place if stranded, to aid rapid location by rescue teams.
