Polish retail market sees major promotions and record revenues
Major retail chains in Poland are implementing aggressive promotional strategies and reporting significant financial shifts. Lidl has achieved record revenues, with sales reaching 43.45 billion PLN for the fiscal year ending February 2026, a 5.1 percent increase from the previous year. The company also expanded its physical presence to 1,000 stores.
Discount retailers are driving consumer interest through various multi-buy offers. Biedronka is running 2+1 and 1+1 gratis promotions on chocolates and laundry detergents, while Kaufland is offering 5+3 gratis on candles and 2+1 on sausages and chocolates. Intermarche has introduced discounts of up to 89 percent on certain confectionery items, and Lidl is offering 50 percent off butter and milk through its mobile application.
Market analysis indicates that despite the popularity of major discounters like Biedronka and Lidl, they do not consistently rank as the cheapest options for branded products. Data shows that Dino has outperformed them in price competitiveness for certain baskets. Meanwhile, in the technology distribution sector, Asbis reported massive revenue growth of up to 91 percent in recent months, driven by demand for artificial intelligence components.
