Auchi resident caught after living in broken-into house for days

A young man identified as Sunday was apprehended after allegedly breaking into a residence in Auchi, Edo State, and living there for approximately four days while the owner was away.

According to reports and video footage circulating on social media, the suspect gained entry by breaking a back window and security bars. During a confrontation with the property owner, Sunday admitted to the break-in and explained that he damaged the window to create an escape route in case the occupants returned unexpectedly.

The owner reported that the suspect had been using the home's facilities, including bathing and cooking meals such as rice and beans, since the previous Friday. The suspect, who identified himself as being from Bauchi State, faced warnings of potential police action and imprisonment following the discovery of his unauthorized stay.
