Auckland Council reviews $25 million community grants policy

Auckland Council is conducting a review of its Community Grants Policy to determine how millions of dollars in funding are distributed. The current policy, which has been in place since 2014, guided the distribution of approximately $25 million in 2023/24 across 11 regional programmes and 21 local board programmes.

The review aims to ensure funding remains fair and meets the evolving needs of Auckland's communities. The grants currently support various initiatives, including environmental restoration, arts, sports facilities, and projects for migrant communities. Māori organisations, marae, and iwi are specifically included in the consultation process to help shape the future of the funding framework.
