According to Inspector Jacqui Whittaker, the driver attempted to evade detection by turning off vehicle lights and entering a side street. When signaled to stop, the driver allegedly performed a U-turn and attempted to ram the patrol car multiple times. The driver then fled at high speed on the wrong side of the road.
Following an aerial pursuit by an Eagle unit, ground officers apprehended the suspect in Sandringham.
