Auckland Pop‑Up Burger Bistro Showcases Kiwi Fridge Ingredients

A suburban home in Auckland has been converted into a pop‑up burger bistro called Real Life Restaurant by Angel Bay. The venue operates on select nights over the next two weeks and invites guests to dine in the house, even providing fluffy slippers at the door.

The menu is built around findings from a survey of more than 1,000 New Zealanders about typical fridge contents and cooking habits. Dishes such as the Home Comforts Burger, Global Sauce Shelf Burger, Breakfast‑for‑Dinner Burger, Second Chance Burger and Fridge Gazer Plate use ingredients like miso paste, maple syrup, pickles, eggs, jalapeños and a range of international sauces that commonly appear in Kiwi freezers. Home‑cooking expert Jana MacPherson developed the recipes to demonstrate how leftovers can be turned into gourmet‑style meals and to encourage creativity in everyday cooking.
