Auckland to host 2027-28 PSA Squash World Championships

Auckland has secured the rights to host the 2027-28 PSA Squash World Championships, scheduled to take place from February 19 to 27, 2028. The event will be held at the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) and will feature a glass court for spectators. The tournament is set to run concurrently with the inaugural World Club Championships, making it the largest squash event ever held in New Zealand.

The championships arrive just months before squash makes its Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. To support the event, the New Zealand Government has committed $1 million through the Major Events Fund.

In a related development, eight-time world squash champion Datuk Nicol David is visiting New Zealand. As part of the Nicol Davis Organisation (NDO), David is engaging with sport, education, and community leaders in Auckland and Wellington to discuss using sport as a tool for social change and community strengthening.
