Auckland to host 50th International Conference on Coordination Chemistry

Auckland has secured the right to host the 50th International Conference on Coordination Chemistry (ICCC50) in 2034. The event is expected to draw between 1,000 and 1,200 delegates to the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC).

The successful bid was a collaborative national effort led by Professor Christian Hartinger of the University of Auckland. He was supported by co-chairs Professor Sally Brooker and Professor James Crowley from the University of Otago, and Professor Robin Fulton from Victoria University of Wellington. The bid also received support from Tourism New Zealand Business Events, the Auckland Convention Bureau, and the NZICC.

Coordination chemistry is a field that influences the development of new medicines, renewable energy technologies, advanced materials, and improved manufacturing processes. The conference aims to strengthen international research partnerships and showcase New Zealand’s scientific innovation and research excellence.
