Auckland Transport announces safety and transit updates for City Rail Link
Auckland Transport (AT) is implementing new initiatives to support the upcoming City Rail Link (CRL) and improve regional transit efficiency.
To address safety concerns at rail level crossings, AT has launched the ‘Danger Zone’ campaign. Using character-driven imagery inspired by children’s books, the campaign aims to remind pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers of the risks associated with fast-moving, quiet trains. The initiative seeks to encourage safer behavior and increased awareness as the rail network expands.
Simultaneously, AT is proposing infrastructure changes to improve access to CRL stations. The proposal includes optimizing bus and transit lanes on Remuera, Mount Eden, and Sandringham roads. These arterial routes are critical for connecting commuters to key stations, such as Newmarket. The plan involves installing continuous T3 lanes to facilitate better traffic flow and encourage a shift from private vehicles to public transport.
