Audi and Porsche discuss shared strategy for future A8
Audi and Porsche are discussing a potential strategic collaboration regarding the future of the Audi A8 flagship sedan. Reports indicate that the German manufacturers, both part of the Volkswagen Group, are considering a new generation of the A8 for a possible launch around 2030.
To reduce development and production costs, Audi is exploring the possibility of utilizing the Porsche Panamera platform. This shared architecture would allow the companies to divide investments in engineering, electronic components, and industrial processes while maintaining the individual brand identities of each model.
As part of this plan, production could be transferred from Audi’s Neckarsulm plant to Porsche’s high-tech facility in Leipzig, Germany. This move would allow the A8 to share an assembly line with the next generation of the Panamera. While these discussions represent a significant synergy within the Volkswagen Group, no official final decision has been confirmed by Audi.
