Audi Announces 2028 Launch of All‑Electric A4 Sedan

Audi confirmed that the A4 name will return in 2028 as an all‑electric four‑door sedan. The model will be one of the first to adopt the new design language introduced by the Concept C concept in 2025 and will be built on Volkswagen Group’s Scalable Systems Platform (SSP), which is set to replace the existing MEB and PPE architectures.

Technical director Rouven Mohr said the electric A4 will showcase the “Strive for Clarity” design ethos, feature higher‑quality interior materials, and restore more physical controls to reduce reliance on large touchscreens. Audi also hinted that a station‑wagon (Avant) version could be offered, keeping the brand’s traditional wagon DNA alive in the electric era. The model follows interim releases such as the limited‑run Nuvolari sport coupé planned for 2027 and a production version of the Concept C sport‑targa.

The electric A4 is positioned to strengthen Audi’s lineup against competitors like the Mercedes‑C‑Class and BMW i3 in the premium electric sedan segment.
