Audi appeals FIA decision regarding Yuki Tsunoda at Monza
Audi has announced its intention to appeal a decision made by race stewards following the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The dispute centers on Yuki Tsunoda’s grid positioning, which led to an additional formation lap after a red flag procedure was canceled.
According to the sporting regulations, specifically article B5.9.4, a driver responsible for causing an additional formation lap must start the race from the pit lane. While the stewards initially declined to penalize Tsunoda, Audi is contesting this interpretation.
If the appeal is successful and a thirty-second penalty is applied to Tsunoda, Gabriel Bortoleto, who finished 11th, would move up to 10th place to secure a championship point.
