Audi celebrates 30 years of the A3 compact model

Audi is marking the 30th anniversary of the A3, a model that debuted at the 1996 Paris Motor Show. Since its world premiere, more than six million units have been produced and delivered to over 100 countries.

The A3 has evolved through four generations: the 8L (1996), 8P (2003), 8V (2012), and the current 8Y (since 2020). The lineup has expanded from its original three-door coupe silhouette to include various body styles such as the Sportback, Limousine, and allstreet, alongside performance models like the S3 and RS 3, as well as plug-in hybrids.

Key milestones include the introduction of quattro all-wheel drive in 1998, the debut of the Sportback in 2004, and the transition to the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform with the third generation. In Austria, the A3 was the brand's best-selling model in 2025.
