Audi F1 boss Mattia Binotto targets 2030 championship contention

Audi Formula 1 boss Mattia Binotto has compared the team's current rebuilding phase to Ferrari's situation in 1995. Following Audi's takeover of Sauber, the manufacturer is working toward a goal of competing for world championships by 2030.

Binotto noted that Audi's current infrastructure and facilities in Hinwil, Switzerland, currently lack the scale of top-tier teams like Mercedes, McLaren, and Ferrari. The team has identified its power unit development as the critical factor for future competitiveness.

Driver Gabriel Bortoleto has confirmed his long-term commitment to the Audi project. In the 2026 season, drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Bortoleto have contributed a total of 12 points, though the team has finished in 11th place in six of the first eleven races.
