Audi F1 progress exceeds visible results, says Mattia Binotto

Mattia Binotto has stated that Audi’s progress in its debut Formula 1 works season is more significant behind the scenes than current race results indicate. While the team faced early struggles, it has become a more consistent points contender since the summer, highlighted by Nico Hulkenberg scoring in Singapore.

Binotto noted that the most substantial achievements are occurring in areas less visible to fans, specifically regarding team culture, attitude, and internal evolution. He emphasized that the transition from Sauber to a full works operation is a gradual process, stating, “You don’t go from a small private team to a winning team overnight.”

The team is currently focused on consolidating its competitiveness within the midfield. Binotto also addressed the logistical split between operations in Hinwil and Neuburg, dismissing concerns that the two locations act as a handicap and instead describing them as a unified team working toward a shared goal. Audi aims to be title contenders by 2030, though Binotto expressed a desire to achieve this sooner.
