Audi Hungaria unaffected by Volkswagen Group restructuring plans
Audi Hungaria Zrt., based in Győr, has announced that it is not affected by the Volkswagen Group's recent decision regarding large-scale restructuring and downsizing through 2030. The company stated that neither job reductions nor modifications to production capacity are currently on the agenda for its Hungarian operations.
The Volkswagen Group's supervisory board recently announced a reform package titled ‘Future Plan 2030’, which includes plans to eliminate 50,000 jobs globally, including management positions, in addition to previously announced cuts. This move aims to address a surplus in European manufacturing capacity, which currently exceeds demand by more than 500,000 vehicles annually.
While the group is examining alternative uses for several German plants—specifically in Emden, Zwickau, Hannover, and the Audi Neckarsulm facility—the Győr plant remains unaffected. Audi Hungaria continues to serve as a central powertrain supplier for the Audi brand and other group brands, reporting 9.222 billion euros in revenue last year.
