Audi launches Spotify native in-car application

Audi has become the first automaker to integrate a fully native Spotify application directly into its vehicle infotainment systems. Developed in collaboration with CARIAD and Spotify, the app runs on Android Automotive OS, eliminating the need for smartphone tethering via Bluetooth or cables.

Available starting October 21, 2026, the app is accessible through the Audi Application Store for models built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architectures. Initial compatible models include the Audi A6 e-tron, Q6 e-tron, and the 2026 model year A5, Q5, and A6.

The integration offers a customized user interface that adapts to driving conditions. While moving, the system prioritizes safety by hiding music videos and real-time lyrics on the central MMI display, relying instead on voice commands like “Hey Audi” and Spotify DJ. When parked, the full feature set—including music videos, lyrics, and expanded browsing—becomes available. Vehicles equipped with a front passenger display allow passengers to access these visual features even while the car is in motion. Additionally, the app supports Spotify Jam, allowing passengers to join shared listening sessions via QR code.
