Audi integrates native Spotify app into vehicle infotainment systems
Audi has partnered with Spotify and CARIAD to launch a native Spotify application integrated directly into the vehicle's infotainment system. Running on Android Automotive OS, the app allows drivers and passengers to access music, podcasts, and video content without the need for a smartphone connection, Bluetooth, or cables.
To use the service, owners sign in by scanning a QR code on the vehicle's display or entering a pairing code via a web browser. Once logged in, the system maintains playback progress even after the vehicle is restarted. The app supports both Spotify Free and Premium accounts and is available for download through the Audi Application Store.
To enhance safety, the interface adjusts based on the vehicle's status. While driving, the central display restricts video and real-time lyrics to minimize driver distraction, prioritizing voice commands via “Hey Audi” and simplified navigation. When the vehicle is parked or charging, the full suite of entertainment features, including music videos and video podcasts, becomes available. In models equipped with a dedicated passenger display, passengers can browse content and view lyrics independently.
Initial support includes the electric A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron, as well as the 2026 models of the A5, Q5, and A6. Support for the Q7 and Q9 is expected to follow during their respective market launches.
