Audi integrates native Spotify experience into vehicle systems

Audi has become the first automaker to integrate the full Spotify experience directly into its vehicle multimedia systems. Developed in partnership with Spotify and Cariad, the native application runs on the Android Automotive OS, reducing reliance on smartphones and interfaces like Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

The integration allows drivers and passengers to access advanced features such as music videos, real-time synchronized lyrics, Spotify Jam, and Spotify DJ directly through the vehicle's screens. To enhance safety and reduce driver distraction, the system automatically adapts its functionality based on driving conditions; certain visual features are restricted to passenger screens while the vehicle is in motion, whereas the full experience, including visual content, becomes available via the MMI central screen when parked.

The technology will initially be available in Audi models utilizing the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architectures. The feature also introduces Spotify Jam to the automotive environment, allowing occupants to join shared listening sessions by scanning a QR code to add music to playlists in real time.
