Audi introduces Nuvolari supercar with shared Lamborghini technology

Audi is re-entering the supercar segment with the Nuvolari, a high-performance vehicle that shares its platform and plug-in hybrid V8 engine with the Lamborghini Temerario. Despite the shared mechanical components, the Nuvolari is expected to carry a higher price tag, estimated at approximately $700,000. The vehicle is reported to produce between 987 and 1,014 horsepower and can reach top speeds exceeding 350 km/h. Production is limited to 499 units.

This strategic move aligns with observations from Audi CEO Gernot Döllner, who noted that demand for internal combustion engines remains strong in the high-end luxury market. While Audi previously aimed for a fully electric lineup by 2032, the company has adjusted its strategy to continue developing combustion engines, such as V6 and V8 configurations, often supplemented by electric assistance to meet regulatory standards. The rapid development of the Nuvolari, which took 405 days from sketch to prototype, was driven by the need to meet Euro 7 emissions standards and Audi's upcoming entry into Formula 1.
