Audi unveils Nuvolari hypercar with 1,001 hp hybrid powertrain
Audi has revealed the Nuvolari, its first hybrid super‑car, delivering a combined output of 1,001 hp (736 kW) and a top speed exceeding 350 km/h. The mid‑engine vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Power comes from a 4.0‑litre twin‑turbo V8 (800 hp) plus three axial‑flux electric motors—two front‑mounted (110 kW each) and one rear‑integrated—fed by a 7.3 kWh lithium‑ion battery that also enables short electric‑only runs.
The Nuvolari features an all‑carbon‑fiber body, active aerodynamics with a three‑position rear wing generating up to 400 kg of downforce, and Audi’s Quattro Predictive Ride system that distributes torque using sensor data. Production is limited to 499 units, with deliveries slated for the first half of 2027. Pricing is expected to exceed €500,000, positioning the model above the previous R8.
Gernot Döllner, Chairman of the Board of Audi AG, said, “Con la Nuvolari stiamo accelerando il progresso tecnologico.” CTO Rouven Mohr added that the team demonstrated “competenza tecnica, forza innovativa e lavoro di squadra.”
