Audi postpones major F1 power unit upgrade to 2027
Audi announced that it will not introduce a major power‑unit upgrade during the 2026 Formula 1 season. Team race director Allan McNish said the next significant ADUO‑based development will be held back for 2027, allowing the team to preserve budget‑cap resources after small improvements were already applied at the Barcelona Grand Prix.
McNish noted that the current package has helped the midfield squad, driven by Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto, to close the gap to the front‑runners. He emphasized the need to balance short‑term gains with a longer‑term development plan, stating that larger engine changes are slated for the 2027 campaign.
