Audi prepares launch of compact A2 e-tron electric vehicle
Audi is finalizing testing for the new A2 e-tron, a compact electric vehicle that revives the historic A2 nameplate. Recent sightings of pre-production prototypes reveal a design that blends the silhouette of a Sportback hatchback with crossover-inspired elements, featuring a high roofline and integrated air deflectors.
The model aims to be one of Audi’s most efficient vehicles. The 140 kW (190 hp) version, equipped with an efficiency package, is expected to achieve a WLTP combined energy consumption of just 12.8 kWh/100 km. This efficiency is driven by advanced aerodynamics, including an optimized drag coefficient of 0.24, achieved through over 1,000 hours of wind tunnel testing.
Technical enhancements include air curtains around the front wheels, active air intake flaps, and a fully covered underbody to reduce turbulence. The powertrain utilizes a permanent magnet electric motor and silicon carbide semiconductors in the power electronics to minimize energy losses. The interior is expected to feature a digital cockpit with an 11.9-inch driver display and a 12.8-inch multimedia system.
