Audi Q6 e‑tron loses most of its range at 200 km/h on German Autobahn
Tests of the Audi Q6 e‑tron on Germany’s unrestricted Autobahn showed that driving at about 200 km/h (124 mph) reduces the vehicle’s usable range to roughly 155 km (just over 100 miles), far below the WLTP‑rated 494 km. The 100 kWh battery’s consumption rose to about 50‑55 kWh per 100 km, and battery temperature increased from 39 °C to 49 °C. Power remained available until the state‑of‑charge fell to about 3 %, when the car began to lose acceleration.
A French road‑test reported the same high‑speed conditions, noting that the range drop is a consequence of aerodynamic drag rising sharply with speed, making real‑world high‑speed travel far less efficient than the standardized test cycles. The findings underline that electric‑vehicle range is highly sensitive to sustained high speeds, even for modern SUVs like the Q6 e‑tron.
