Audi Q9 debuts world’s first curved OLED taillights
Audi has introduced curved digital OLED taillights on its flagship Q9 SUV, marking an industry first. The lighting system utilizes six ultra-thin glass panels, each only 0.1mm thick, which wrap around the vehicle’s rear quarter panels to follow the bodywork's curvature.
The assembly consists of 512 individually controllable lighting segments. This design is intended to enhance safety by ensuring that brake lights and turn signals remain highly visible to motorists approaching from various side angles.
The technology integrates with the vehicle’s digital Matrix LED headlights, allowing the car to project stylized turn signals onto the road surface. Audi has not yet specified the level of driver customization available for the lighting sequences or if lighting patterns will vary by international market.
