Audi S6 and RS 6 prototypes spotted ahead of hybrid debut
New prototypes for the upcoming Audi S6 and RS 6 models have been spotted undergoing testing, signaling an imminent official reveal. The new generation will feature both sedan and Avant (station wagon) body styles.
A significant shift in powertrain technology is expected, as the new S6 is anticipated to be the first model in the S line to utilize plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology. This transition involves moving away from traditional V8 engines toward a 3.0-liter V6 configuration paired with an electric motor. The S6 is expected to offer performance positioned between the S5 and the RS5.
The RS 6 is also set for a major update based on the A6 C9 platform, marking the return of the four-door sedan alongside the traditional Avant version. Expected to arrive in dealerships by early 2027, the high-performance models will likely feature advanced digital cockpits and sport-oriented interior finishes such as carbon fiber and Alcantara.
