Audi to invest $4.2 billion in first U.S. manufacturing plant in Georgia FAST-MOVING

German automaker Audi has announced plans to invest approximately $4 billion to establish its first manufacturing facility in the United States. Located near Macon, Georgia, at the Middle Georgia Megasite, the plant is expected to produce up to 200,000 premium SUVs annually, specifically the Q7, Q8, and Q9 models.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with production slated to start in the early 2030s. The project is expected to create approximately 4,500 jobs. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner joined U.S. President Donald Trump on stage during a campaign rally in Perry, Georgia, to discuss the investment, which Döllner described as a long-term commitment to the American market.

President Trump credited his administration's tariff policies for the decision, framing the investment as a significant victory for domestic manufacturing. The move aims to mitigate high import costs related to tariffs on vehicles, steel, and aluminum, which reportedly cost Audi approximately $1.4 billion last year. While the investment strengthens Audi's presence in North America, it has drawn criticism from German politicians regarding the company's participation in U.S. political campaigning.
