Audi to redesign A3 with focus on premium interior quality
Audi is planning a comprehensive redesign of its next-generation A3 to restore its reputation for premium interior quality. Following recent criticisms regarding perceived cabin quality, the German automaker aims to pivot away from screen-heavy designs in favor of superior materials, tactile feedback, and a better balance of physical controls.
Technical Director Rouven Mohr indicated that design and quality advancements from Audi’s high-end models will influence the upcoming A3. The new design language is expected to draw inspiration from the Concept C, featuring elements such as more refined body surfaces and updated lighting signatures.
The next-generation A3 will remain a high-volume model built on the Volkswagen MQB platform. While the vehicle will continue to utilize combustion engines, diesel powertrains are expected to be phased out in favor of more efficient gas-hybrid alternatives. This strategic shift comes as Audi adjusts its long-term targets regarding full electrification.
