Audi unveils 367‑hp A5 Avant plug‑in hybrid

Audi announced a new plug‑in hybrid version of its A5 Avant estate, scheduled for release in Japan in May 2026. The model combines a 2.0‑litre turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor to deliver 367 hp (270 kW) and 500 Nm of torque, matching the performance of the S5. It is equipped with a 25.9 kWh lithium‑ion battery that Audi claims offers 45 % higher energy density than its predecessor, providing an electric‑only range of up to 108‑110 km (approximately 110 km in test conditions). The vehicle supports 11 kW AC charging, reaching a full charge in about 165 minutes, and features the brand’s quattro all‑wheel‑drive system with a 7‑speed S tronic gearbox. Pricing in the Japanese market is set at roughly ¥11.5 million for the sedan and ¥11.8 million for the Avant model.
