Audi unveils Nuvolari, a 987 hp hybrid supercar

Audi has announced the development of the Nuvolari, a plug-in hybrid supercar intended as a successor to the R8. The vehicle features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine paired with three electric motors, producing a total of 987 hp. This makes it the most powerful series-production Audi to date. The powertrain allows for a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 2.6 seconds and a top speed exceeding 350 km/h.

While the Nuvolari shares technical architecture with the Lamborghini Temerario, Audi has implemented distinct tuning for its aerodynamics, power distribution, and driving character. The car includes various driving modes, such as a ‘Track’ program that allows for the disabling of traction control.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner noted that the project serves as a technological guide for the brand’s future developments. The company also highlighted the rapid development cycle of the vehicle, moving from initial sketches to the first production prototype in a record 405 days. This streamlined process is intended to set a new standard for efficiency in Audi’s future automotive engineering.
