Audi launches flagship Q9 SUV with seven seats and diesel V6

Audi unveiled the Q9, the brand’s largest and most premium SUV, positioned above the Q7. The model measures 5.31 m long, 2.21 m wide and 1.81 m high, with a wheelbase of 3.14 m, making it the biggest Audi ever built. It is offered with a standard three‑row, seven‑seat layout and an optional six‑seat configuration with individual electric seats in the second row.

The European version is powered by a 3.0‑litre V6 TDI diesel delivering 299 hp and 630 Nm of torque, equipped with a 48‑V mild‑hybrid system. A high‑performance SQ9 variant will use a 4.0‑litre twin‑turbo V8 producing 591 hp. Prices start around €126,090 (≈ $136 k) in Europe, with orders opening in July 2026 and first deliveries slated for the fourth quarter of 2026.

Inside, the Q9 features Android Automotive OS with an integrated ChatGPT AI assistant, a digital instrument cluster (11.9 in), a 14.5 in central touchscreen and a 12.3 in passenger screen. Lighting technology includes third‑generation OLED rear lights and Matrix LED front lights. The vehicle also offers the brand’s largest panoramic glass roof (over 1.5 m²), automatic doors, adaptive air suspension, four‑wheel steering and a Bang & Olufsen 22‑speaker audio system. The launch targets the premium full‑size SUV market against rivals such as the BMW X7, Mercedes‑Benz GLS and Range Rover.
