The 1952 filming of 'Roman Holiday' in Rome served as the definitive launch for Audrey Hepburn's international career. Directed by William Wyler, the production utilized both the streets of the Italian capital and the Cinecittà studios to create a cinematic landmark.

During production, the Cinecittà studios faced challenges, including a fire in Studio No. 2 caused by a short circuit during the filming of another production. Despite the intense Roman summer heat, filming continued. The film featured Gregory Peck in the role of journalist Joe Bradley, starring alongside Hepburn, who played Princess Ann.

Before her rise to stardom, Hepburn had reportedly declined the role of Anne Frank due to the personal trauma associated with her childhood during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Her breakthrough in 'Roman Holiday' ultimately established her as a global icon of elegance and style.
