Audrey Hepburn’s son reflects on her journey to stardom
Sean Hepburn Ferrer, son of the late actress Audrey Hepburn, has shared insights into his mother’s unexpected rise to global stardom. According to Ferrer, who co-authored the biography ‘Intimate Audrey’, Hepburn originally aspired to be a ballerina. However, the hardships and lack of nutrition during World War II in the Netherlands forced her to abandon that ambition, leading her toward acting.
Ferrer noted that Hepburn often felt she was not a professional actress despite her massive success. He described her as a grounded and humble individual who may not have fully realized her own magnetism or talent. He suggested that her lack of formal classical training contributed to a sense of authenticity and sincerity in her performances, allowing her to deliver a “fresh” and genuine quality to the screen.
