Audrey Werro named European Athlete of the Year

Swiss 800m specialist Audrey Werro has been named European Athlete of the Year. The award was presented in Lausanne during the Golden Tracks ceremony.

Werro’s successful season included winning the European Championship in Birmingham, six Diamond League victories, and a win at the Ultimate Championship. She also set a new Swiss record at the Weltklasse Zurich with a time of 1:53.70, making her the third fastest woman in history at that distance. She is the first Swiss athlete to win this specific title since 1993.

Werro has also received nominations for the World Athletics Awards in Monaco, specifically in the ‘moment of the year’ and ‘female athlete of the year’ categories.
