Audrey Werro wins 800m at Diamond League finals in Brussels

Swiss athlete Audrey Werro secured a victory in the 800 meters at the Diamond League finals in Brussels, completing a perfect season with six wins in six Diamond League races. Werro finished with a time of 1:54.75, setting a new meeting record at the Memorial Van Damme.

She narrowly defeated Dutch competitor Femke Broeders-Bol, who clocked 1:54.81. The race was highly competitive, with Broeders-Bol nearly catching Werro in the final 60 meters. This performance marks a significant achievement for Broeders-Bol following her transition from the 400-meter hurdles to the 800-meter discipline.

Werro’s season included successful performances in Rabat, Stockholm, Paris, Lausanne, and Zurich. While she did not break her recent Swiss record of 1:53.70 set in Zurich, her Brussels win earned her a second Diamond trophy.
