Audrey Werro wins European 800m gold in Birmingham

Audrey Werro secured the women’s 800 meters gold medal at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, defeating Keely Hodgkinson in a highly competitive final. Werro utilized tactical execution and finishing speed to overcome the field, describing her mindset as entering the track believing she is “unbeatable.”

Hodgkinson, a prominent British athlete and recent Olympic gold medalist, expressed disappointment following the race. She noted the difficulty of the final 200 meters and mentioned that a previous hamstring injury had impacted her training earlier in the year.

The British team also saw success during the championships, with Amy Hunt winning gold in the 200 meters.
