Auglaize County pedestrians struck by vehicle on National Road

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash in Auglaize County that occurred on September 19, 2026, on National Road.

According to preliminary findings, a 2005 Chrysler 300 driven by 58-year-old Rob Roby was traveling east when it struck two pedestrians, Ryan Twining, 23, and Kelsey Woten, 22, as the vehicle crested a hill. The investigation revealed that Twining had been involved in a prior vehicle-versus-deer collision and had exited his car to search for the animal; Woten was assisting him when the second vehicle struck them.

Twining sustained life-threatening injuries, while Woten suffered serious injuries. Both were transported to St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima by Cridersville EMS. The driver, Roby, was not injured. Authorities stated that alcohol or drug impairment is not suspected in the incident.
