Augsburg and Landsberg lead German rankings for quality of life
Recent studies have highlighted high qualities of life and positive demographic outlooks for specific German regions. According to the CanDoc Stress Index, Augsburg has been identified as the city with the best conditions for a stress-free daily life in Germany. The study evaluated 30 major cities based on ten factors, including environment, work life, green spaces, and healthcare. Augsburg's success is attributed to a balanced profile, featuring over 40 percent green space and relatively low exposure to nighttime street noise.
In a separate study conducted by the Berlin Institute for Population and Development and the Wüstenrot Foundation, the district of Landsberg am Lech ranked 13th nationally for future viability. This ranking utilized 26 indicators across demographics, economy, education, and social conditions. While Germany's overall population is projected to decline to approximately 81.8 million by 2045, Landsberg is expected to see a population growth of roughly 3 percent due to migration offsetting natural population decline.
