Augsburg: Arrest warrant issued for woman over animal welfare violations

An arrest warrant has been issued for a 46-year-old woman in Augsburg-Lechhausen following repeated violations of animal welfare laws. The warrant was issued by Judge Johannes Pausch after the defendant failed to appear for a scheduled court date.

The legal proceedings stem from allegations that the woman kept cats suffering from painful conjunctivitis in July 2025. This case follows a history of documented animal welfare issues on her property, including a 2023 inspection by the Augsburg Veterinary Office that uncovered 20 free-roaming cats and eight dead puppies.

Subsequent inspections in May 2024 revealed further animals in poor condition, leading to the seizure of several cats and rabbits and the imposition of a ban on animal ownership and care. Despite these measures and previous criminal orders, authorities found that the woman continued to keep numerous animals on the premises.
