Augsburg B17 bridge construction to cause traffic closures

The city of Augsburg is implementing construction measures on the B17 Fabrikkanalbrücke to address static deficiencies identified during routine inspections. To increase the bridge's load-bearing capacity, new reinforcement elements will be concreted onto the underside of the structure. These components must remain free from vibration during installation and curing to ensure structural integrity.

Due to the nature of the work, the B17 will undergo temporary full closures. Because the two directions of travel run on separate bridge structures, the work will be conducted sequentially. The first scheduled closure is set to occur from October 2 at 10:00 PM until October 7 at 6:00 AM for traffic heading toward Landsberg. During this period, the B17 will be fully closed from the Leitershofen junction, though the Gabelsbergerstraße junction will remain open.

Traffic heading toward the A8 will continue as usual. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes, such as the A8 or local detours through Leitershofen and Augsburg city streets, to avoid delays.
