Augsburg marks High Peace Festival with citywide celebrations and streamlined civic services

The city of Augsburg has introduced simplified procedures for registrations, deregistrations and address changes in all citizen offices, extending the new rules to third‑country nationals previously handled by the migration department.

To accompany the 375th anniversary of the High Peace Festival, Augsburg is running a week‑long cultural programme focused on peace and the theme of uncertainty. Activities include a multireligious peace prayer, a large communal peace table on Rathausplatz, children’s peace festivities in the botanical garden, and mobile art and play stations at the main library and Fuggerplatz. New child‑focused district maps are also being distributed to help young residents explore their neighbourhoods.

The festival, originating in 1650 to commemorate the end of religious persecution, invites all citizens and visitors to share food, meet neighbours and celebrate Augsburg’s tradition as a “peace city.” The Green Party will host a table at the peace table to engage with participants.
