Augsburg Railway Construction Triggers Service Cuts to Allgäu Until Mid‑July
Between 30 June and 16 July, extensive construction on the rail corridor from Augsburg to the Allgäu will lead to numerous train cancellations and timetable changes. Deutsche Bahn Regio listed the affected regional and regional‑express services, including RB 74, RB 94, RE 7, RE 17, RE 70, RE 75, RE 76 and RE 79, impacting routes through Buchloe, Kempten, Immenstadt, Oberstdorf, Oberstaufen, Hergatz and Lindau‑Insel.
A replacement bus service will operate on the affected sections, but space for bicycles will be unavailable on the buses. Travelers heading to the mountains or the Bodensee are advised to check departure times shortly before travel and consider alternative routes. Additional work at Immenstadt station from 26 June 20:00 to 29 June 02:00 will close the Kempten‑Oberstaufen‑Immenstadt line for the weekend, further limiting options.
Deutsche Bahn notes that about 41 % of trains have already been cancelled since early March, with some disruptions expected to continue into September. Passengers are encouraged to verify current schedules and bus connections before departure.
