Augsburg ranks as one of Germany's happiest cities
Augsburg has been ranked as the second happiest city in Germany and the first in Bavaria according to the 2026 SKL Happiness Atlas. The study, conducted by the University of Freiburg and the Süddeutsche Klassenlotterie (SKL), surveyed 23,286 people across Germany regarding their life satisfaction.
In the Augsburg district of Oberhausen, residents report high levels of satisfaction, citing the central yet calm atmosphere of areas like Glückstraße. Personal perspectives on happiness in the region emphasize health, the ability to live without constant haste, and the importance of having time for personal hobbies.
