August Full Moon Opens Thessaloniki Sites for Free Events

The August full moon will illuminate Thessaloniki’s historic monuments, offering a series of free evening cultural programmes at key archaeological locations. On Friday, 28 August, the Galerian Assembly site will stay open from 20:00 to midnight, and the Roman Agora will host a wind‑band concert featuring the Thessaloniki Youth Band together with the Sinfonisches Jugendblasorchester Baden‑Württemberg, both with free admission.

The events are part of the Ministry of Culture’s nationwide “August Full Moon” and “All Greece One Culture” initiative, which opens 126 archaeological sites across the country for concerts, theatre, exhibitions and guided tours. Additional performances include a multimedia show by the Polis Ensemble at the Seven Towers (Eptapyrgio) on 30 August and 31 August, exploring shared musical traditions of the Mediterranean, the Balkans, the Caucasus and North Africa. Attendance is free, though reservation of a place is required.
