August Road Races Scheduled in Mexico and Guatemala
The 28th edition of the Carrera Atlética de la Asunción will take place in Aguascalientes, Mexico, on 16 August. The 3.3‑km circuit starts at Francisco I. Madero Street near the cathedral, with three laps for free‑master categories and two laps for youth, veteran and walking groups. Registration is open at a fee of 250 pesos; the first 350 registrants receive a T‑shirt, while all participants earn a medal and cash prizes ranging from 500 to 1,600 pesos.
In Guatemala, a series of running events is slated for every Sunday in August across the capital and several departments. Highlights include the Run K'iche' half‑ and full‑marathon (12 km and 21 km) in Quiché, the Carreras AYUVI in Escuintla and Petén, the Lactancia Materna race in Parque Erick Barrondo, and the GNC Neuro Run with 5‑, 10‑ and 15‑km distances in Guatemala City. Additional races are listed for locations such as Chiquimula, San José Pinula, Izabal, Huehuetenango and others, with entry fees between Q100 and Q195.
